July 19th, 2010, Washington, DC- On Saturday night, the District of Columbia Young Republicans (DCYRs) were selected by the Young Republican National Federation (YRNF) Awards Committee as the 2010 Outstanding State Federation and also received the award for 2010 Club Newsletter of the Year.
Awards were presented during the cumulating Gala for the YRNF’s biennial Young Republican Leadership Conference (YRLC). The four-day Conference, featuring speakers such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, and Political Commentators such as SE Cupp, concluded on Saturday night with an address by Rep. Thad McCotter of Michigan and the presentation of awards to the organization’s most successful clubs.
DCYRs Chairman Rich Counts said the following about the night’s events: “Tonight the efforts of our board and our members were recognized for their outstanding achievements throughout the past 12 months. Our efforts to show the country that the GOP is the best party for our generation have been well received. Our large-scale deployments to New Jersey for Chris Christie, Virginia for Bob McDonnell, Massachusetts for Scott Brown and Pennsylvania for Tim Burns have been a huge success, and have mirrored the recent triumphs of the Republican Party. ” – DCYRs Chairman Rich Counts
DCYRs Executive Vice-Chair made the following comments: “Tonight’s award marks a great achievement for DC Republicans and is emblematic of the great things happening with the Republican Party here in the District.
